Today, on a bipartisan vote of 13 to 5, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to pass Senate Bill 744, the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act, out of the committee and on to the Senate floor for a full vote in the coming days.
The Senate committee mark-up spanned three weeks and covered many of the 300 amendments offered on every aspect of the bill. The resulting legislation represents a concerted effort to find a workable and fair immigration policy that makes our nation stronger.
PLEASE NOTE THAT COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM HAS NOT BEEN PASSED YET! IT HAS BEEN ONLY PASSED TO BE REVIEWED IN THE SENATE!
